Rosinante needs a recovery (June 2023)

Ani continued her journey and took the mountain pass we had taken before we met her.

Cindy and I wanted to go to a waterfall. On Google Maps the road leading there looked like a proper road. On Open Street Maps it looked different and a bit off-roady.

We decided to give it a try and quickly ended up in a famous off-road track. Rosinante did very well going up the small mountain on the very rocky track with a lot of stone steps.

Once we reached the upper part of the mountain, the track turned into a field of mud. Several cars already got stuck there and so did we with Rosinante. The first time, we managed to get her free on our own. The second time we asked somebody else to pull us out. After that we decided to park Rosinante at a nice spot and walk the rest of the way to the lake.

Suddenly while walking the track, Cindy recognized that she had lost her phone. We went back and looked hard for it. And we found it. It was just lying on a big metal pipe we had crossed before. And to both sides of the pipe there was water but the phone was just lying there in the only dry spot of the pipe. Several off-road cars must have crossed the pipe as well, but we just could pick it up again.

The lake was very beautiful and on the way there we saw one of the old UAZ Buchanka you can see often in Georgia. I love them.

Sea of green in northern Turkey (June 2023)

We continued our journey together and Cindy turned out to be not afraid when driving her van called Thor over the often demanding roads of northern Turkey.

One day, we had found a nice spot on Google Maps. It had been looking like a super nice place next to a lake. When we reached that place the track leading there turned out to be very muddy and soon Thor got stuck and we had to recover him with Rosinante. In the end we found a nice spot to stay next to the “lake” which turned out to be a swamp.

And Cindy and I developed our signature meal: wraps with vegetables and Pampe (a German word for kind of a spread for bread).

What a mountain: the Ararat, and where does this shepherd came from? (Juni 2023)

After Van Lake, we went to the Ararat Mountain. What a mountain it is! I’ve never seen one like that before. It just looks so impressive and majestic. I can’t describe it and the photos can’t deliver it. It’s just a huge mountain in between nothing.

We parked Thor and Rosinante at its foot and just enjoyed looking at it. One day we went up as far as we could without crampons or snowshoes but turned back when a thunderstorm approached. But still we had a super good time going up and down.

And even in the most isolated places, where you don’t see anybody else for hours, when you start to have sex outside, a shepherd appears from nowhere and asks for fire 🤣

And I love to make some dust with Rosinante. I don’t know why, but I just have to. And the small dirt road down from the Aragats is perfect for it 😁

Oh, and if you want to go there as well, go to this spot: see it on Google Maps. The other road more to the east is located on a military restricted area and you need an permission to enter.

You can see our tour on Komoot.
